Director General Aslanov: AzerTAc is one of the most active members of the leading organizations shaping the world`s information policy

Baku, June 2 (AZERTAC). Director General of Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) Aslan Aslanov has said the agency is one of the most active members of the leading organizations shaping the world`s information policy.

In an interview with journalists prior to the start of a meeting of the News Agencies World Council (NACO) hosted by AZERTAC in Baku, he said: “The News Agencies World Congress is one of such organizations.”

“The Congress groups more than 100 agencies and reputable news organizations.”

Mr. Aslanov said: “Under the Statute of the Congress it is headed by the president, who is elected every three years. The Council of the Congress deals with other organizational issues.”

“The Council consists of heads of some of the world`s leading news agencies and alliances. The Council should convene in Baku until the Congress that will take place in the Azerbaijani capital in 2016.”

The AZERTAC Director General said: “AZERTAC was chosen as the host of the 5th News Agencies World Congress and its president for the years 2016-2019 at the 4th Congress held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on November 20 last year.”

Mr. Aslanov added: “Today`s meeting will see the Council discuss a wide range of issues, including the date, speakers and topics of the Baku Congress.”
